Hilary and her family is featured in the latest issue of InStyle Magazine. Pick up your copy now!

HILARY: I love when we cook at my mom’s house. We are all completely obsessed with the Food Network. We want our mom to have her own cooking show! Right now she’s putting together a cookbook for us.

SUSAN: My girls are so sweet and generous. They come over for dinner every Sunday night and bring their friends. We speak three or four times a day. Even if we’re not in the same country, we’ll text.

HAYLIE: Teaching Mom how to text was a mistake! It’ll be like, “Bananas supermarket movie 8 P.M.” And bananas is spelled B-L-A-N-A-P-S-A-Q. But I understand it, that’s the best part! Growing up, music was a big part of our household, and it still is: My mom has been bugging me to burn all my iTunes for her.

HILARY: This past year we went through a lot. My parents getting divorced was hard. I guess we grouped together. We could always tell each other when we needed each other, no matter what time of day or night.

HAYLIE: Our grandma also passed away recently, and I remember sitting with my mom and sister and thinking, This is my family; this is who’s there for me no matter what, and I am there for them. It was this feeling of solidarity and ultimate companionship and so much love.

Do you know all of Hilary’s Hollywood friends? Here’s one, and it’s quite surprising and unexpected in a good way.

In the latest issue of Seventeen Magazine, Hayden Panettiere says that Hilary is one of her closest friends in Hollywood. Who knew? Maybe we’ll see pictures of them two hanging out. Read the original interview below.

Hilary [Duff] is one of the closer people to me in the business. She’s a very down-to-earth person. She’s humble, very sweet, she’s low-key.”

With the release of her new album, Hilary Duff explains why her ambitions for this stage of her career can be summed up by its title, Dignity.

The headline was any singer’s nightmare: “Hilary Duff caught lip-synching.

Gossip website PerezHilton.com made the claim earlier this month, the “proof” being a link to a grainy YouTube clip of Duff on stage in Mexico visibly singing despite nothing coming out of the microphone.

A few seconds later she sings again and this time the crowd can hear what sounds very much like live vocals.

It sucks,” she says. “So many people have been caught lip-synching. Sometimes that’s just how people do it. Whatever. That’s not the way I like to do things. It’s not like I dance for my entire show, so there’s no reason I’d have an excuse to not sing. People should know I don’t lip-synch. It’s embarrassing. No one understands the technical side of it.

My mic wasn’t turned off, but before the show, I’m warming up my voice, saying a prayer with my dancers (and) we don’t let anyone hear that. But I’d gone on to say ‘Hello Mexico‘ and I could hear it in my ears, but no one else could hear it, and they realised the mute button had been pushed.

It sucks because I’ve worked so hard. I put months into preparing for this tour, then people do stuff like that. It hurts your feelings, but the more you defend yourself, the more you feel it makes you look guilty, even though you’re not. It’s lose-lose. People are waiting for any excuse to say you’ve screwed up or something’s gone wrong, so they make accusations like that.

Some may suggest it’s the latest attempt to find a crack in the Duff armor by those who make a living feeding on celebrity foibles. Read More »

You’d think that Mike Comrie, center for the New York Islanders, has to deal with a lot more paparazzi than your average NHL hockey player. After all, his girlfriend is Hilary Duff.  He showers her with humble gifts such last year’s $100,000 Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV birthday present, which certainly sparks the interest of the press.

Surprisingly, Comrie says that when he’s with Hilary Duff is when he’s truly able to escape the constant scrutiny.

“I guess I’m contradicting myself a bit, but I can duck out when I’m with her,” he recently told the Edmonton Journal. “I’m not in a city with a million people where they’re all keeping an eye on what you do. She’s in a business where her fans want to know what she’s doing in her day-to-day life and I realize and understand that. I guess that comes with dating someone in that business.”

And from all indications, he’s still head over heels for the pop star.

“Things are still great,” he gushed. “We’ve been pretty serious since the summer. She’s a good person. She does a lot of things for charity, a lot of things people don’t know.”

According to the band, Hello Operator, they said touring with Hilary Duff in her previous tour as her opening act benefited them with the popularity and their sales. They have also toured with Simple Plan, but they say that being Hilary’s opening act benefited them the most

Of course, it’s not so bad when you’re booking arenas, even if only as Duff’s opening act.

“With Hilary Duff, the kids that came to those shows, it was their first show ever,” explains Huson. “The kids showed up as soon as the doors opened, so we basically played to a full arena every night for a month-and-a-half.”

At a recent Hilary Duff concert in Mexico for the Dignity Latin America tour, technical difficulties took place right in the beginning of the concert. As a result, people had accused her to be lip-synching the whole time. She seemed to be singing in the mic, but Hilary’s voice cannot be heard. She was going to give a welcome and a greet to the Mexican Duff fans who came to her concert. It’s pretty obvious that the song has not yet begun. “She was not lip-synching,” her reps tell PEOPLE. “It was faulty equipment. There was no sound coming out, but she was singing.”

Hence, it was true. It was not yet time to begin the song, so the microphone is turned off. It is because of the screaming fans. If the microphone is turned on, and the fans are screaming and cheering for Hilary, the screraming would be really loud. And imagine 2 times of the loud screaming coming out of the maximized-volume speakers. According to the tour staff, Hilary was relying on local sound equipment rather than her own gear and the microphone was accidentally set to mute.

Watch the video to see how the technical error happened:

Mike Comrie gave a brief interview to the Edmonton Sun which included some references to Hilary Duff. Mike says that he gets boo-ed every time he goes back to Edmonton - that a bitter breakup 5 years ago led to unhappy fans. And that spread to the point where people may not really know what they are boo-ing for. It was the reason he left Edmonton, and he details more on that.

He talkes very kindly of Hilary and their relationship:

“It’s been great, pretty serious since the summer,” he said. “She’s a good person — does a lot of things for charity, a lot of things people don’t know. She’s great to be around, we have a lot of fun together.”

Although Mike values his privacy in New York, that’s something he obviously doesn’t have with Hilary around.

“She’s in a business where her fans want to know what she’s doing. They’re interested in seeing how her day to day life is going. I realize that and understand that. I guess that comes with the territory of dating somebody in that business. But you’re not in a city of a million people that are keeping an eye on you and knowing everything you do. I can duck out sometimes.”

Well, it sounds like Mike has a good head on his shoulders, hey? Very sensible and understanding.
