Hilary and Haylie Duff have largely avoided the scandals plaguing so many other young pop stars: No stories about stints in rehab, drunken driving arrests and shoplifting. No embarassing photos or sex tapes.

They tried to keep a low profile in their parents’ divorce, too, slipping quietly into a Harris County courtroom on Thursday as their mother, Susan Duff, asked that her husband be ordered to pay her living expenses while their divorce is pending.

Mother and daughters slipped down a back elevator in an attempt to avoid news photographers soon after Judge Thomas Stansbury ordered Bob Duff to pay $100,000 in temporary support — $20,000 a month for five months, beginning Jan. 15.

Stansbury, a retired family court judge from Fort Bend County appointed to hear the case, also ordered Bob Duff to pay $150,000 of his wife’s legal fees by Feb. 1, although he later suspended the order until a hearing set for next month to examine a prenuptial contract between Bob and Susan Duff. Hilary Duff’s new fragrance called ‘Wrapped With Love’ will be coming to retailers near you in January 2008. The fragrance, as seen above, is made in partnership with Elizabeth Arden. The perfume is a more summer fragrance than ‘With Love’ and has hints of iced honeydew, violet, vanilla bean and chocolate mousse.

Haylie Duff spent last Christmas in Miami but found it “so much work” that she’ll be home in L.A. with her mom Susan and sister Hilary, 20, this year.

“We haven’t done that in a really long time, so we’re staying home and have a normal Christmas night,” Duff, 22, tells PEOPLE. The star-filled home won’t be slaving over the stove though.

“We do the tamales tradition and go out and get them from a little guy who lives out in Pasadena. We buy them from him, like, every year,” she explains. “We don’t really do big cooking on Christmas. We do all that during Thanksgiving and then we’re dieting after that.”

It will be festive too, she vows. “My friend Nicki and I have been decorating the house for the past three days, so there’s been Christmas craziness in our house.”

After Christmas, travel plans take over. “We’re going to go to Mexico for New Years,” Duff says.

The family appeared in court today for the divorce hearing between Susan Duff and Bob Duff. Susan Duff asked the court that her husband pay her living expenses while the divorce is pending. Susan Duff has not worked since 1988 and has been supported for many years by Hilary and Haylie.

While answering a phoned-in question for MuchOnDemand, Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus received a thrilling surprise  – the seemingly random caller was actually Hilary Duff!

When the secret was revealed to Cyrus, she was flabbergasted and literally couldn’t speak for a few seconds.  Once she gained her composure, the host asked whether Miley wanted any advice from Ms. Duff.

“Anything!” Miley exclaimed. “You are amazing and getting to meet you was seriously…it was like…I never like, be quiet, and I was for once, speechless!  I was so happy. so thank so much just for everything!  And also, and I never got a chance to tell you this, but thank you for making it cool to be a good girl and to want to be a good role model. Thank you making that cool. Cuz that’s something that really…I look up to you a lot for that.”

“Awww…thank you so much,” Duff replied.  “Well you’re doing such a good job and you have such a career ahead of you and it’s been really cool just to get to watch someone I know admires me to see them grow up and be so successful and do things that they love and have fun.  And that’s one thing you should always remember is that as hard as it is to make those sacrifices of not getting to be with your friends or waking up early you know, it’s still worth it.  And so many people would love to be in your boots.”

The mutual admiration the two had for each other was palpable to everybody who was watching.

Spotted out at Barney’s of New York in Beverly Hills on Saturday for a little retail therapy,  Hilary Duff recently spoke to Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos about weight issues in Hollywood - offering up her take on the controversial issue.

“In Hollywood there’s a lot of pressure, at least in the weight category. How do you deal with that?” Maria asked Hilary.

“They said things before, you know like, ‘Oh my gosh! She’s gained weight!’ And then I lose weight and then it’s, ‘Oh my god, she has lost too much weight!’ I think that when you just laugh about it and you don’t let it effect you. It’s easier said then done, definitely, because it hurts your feelings and it gets to you, and we’re just human,” Hilary tells.

And while the 20-year-old is quite comfortable with her current physique, that doesn’t mean that she goes without working out.

“I work with a Pilates trainer,” Hilary revealed, adding, “I am so bad at exercising outside of Pilates. It’s just not fun, it’s like I just can’t make myself go.”

While her ex Joel Madden preps for a new baby with Nicole Richie, singer Hilary Duff is delaying her own plans to start a family.

“I’m definitely not ready to get married,” Duff, 20, tells Cosmopolitan in its January issue. “I think a reason that people in this business get married young is that they feel like everything comes to them sooner in life. It’s normal to be like, ‘Okay, what’s next?’ ”

Having famously dated Good Charlotte musician Madden for 18 months ? before they broke up in November 2006 ? Duff is currently dating NHL player Mike Comrie.

On the heels of this week’s Jennifer Love Hewitt controversy about body image, Duff said that, as a scrutinized starlet, she has fretted about her weight.

“You lose some happiness when that’s all you think about,” Duff says. “There definitely was a time, about a year and a half ago, when I was pretty obsessed with my body and my weight, but I’m better not stressing about my body all the time.”

She adds, “It’s not attractive when girls get super-skinny. Guys don’t like it. Girls don’t like you as much.”

Next year, Duff will be tackling her first serious movie role, in War, Inc., costarring John Cusack. This year she spent promoting her latest CD, Dignity, which hit stores in April.
